The Dichotomy of Change

ImageThe decision to develop and implement an Enterprise Architecture within a business is often the harbinger of change. Driven perhaps by external competitive forces or by significant change in corporate strategy the Enterprise Architecture becomes a tool that supports business transformation. Taking inputs from People, both organisational and cultural, Business Process and Technology the baseline from which transformation will be applied can be established.

Business Transformation will only occur where the Motivation to do so is able to overcome the inertia in an already established business. Without appropriate motivation, Change will not be well directed, Risks will not be well understood and the business may become stagnant or collapse.

Motivation becomes the key factor in achieving a successful Business Transformation. With positive motivation and the execution of well thought out supporting activities, the opportunity to reap significant business benefit is heightened. With poor motivation, the likelihood of Business Transformation failing is increased significantly.
